H.265/HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding), the next generation codec, allows for half the bandwidth for high quality video transmission compared with the previous H.264/AVC standard. H.265 offers better video compression with the possibility to store or transmit video more efficiently than earlier technologies with higher quality/resolution.
