Turbo and Twin Turbo Encoding Explained

The encoding.com turbo and twin turbo encoding features are available via the encoding.com API  Turbo will automatically send your job to a higher capacity (more CPU and more RAM) server for faster processing times.   Twin Turbo will automatically send your job to a 8 core machine with multi threading enabled.  These features are great to use for high bitrate, H.264, HD, or any video encoding job in which processing time is critical.  On average the turbo encoding feature will process a job 2-4X  faster than our standard servers and twin turbo will deliver a 6-8X processing time improvement over standard servers.

To use this feature simply add <turbo>yes</turbo> or <twin_turbo>yes</twin_turbo>  to the format parameters of any API call or visit the API documentation for more details.  For all turbo encoding jobs there is a $1.00 per GB premium added to your normal encoding bandwidth output rate.  For all twin turbo jobs there is a $2.00 per GB premium added to your normal encoding bandwidth output rate. Below is an example calculation:

In one month you use 150GB of non turbo encoding, becasue this is over 100GB this usage level reduces your encoding bandwidth discount rate from $2.50 to $2.00 per GB.  In the same month you use 20GB of turbo encoding, your usage based invoice for the end of the month would display as follows:

150GB account usage over 1GB    $2.00   150    $300

20GB turbo encoding usage           $3.00    20      $60

                                                       Total =      $360
